Aatmanirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge receives 6940 entries; 1155 under social networking category

Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Monday (July 27, 2020) that the Atmanbir Bharat App Innovation Challenge received 6940 entries with the highest number of entries (1155) under the Social Networking App category.

The minister said that these entries include 3939 from individuals and about 3001 in 8 categories from organizations and companies.

Ravi Shankar said, “This tremendous participation is a sign that India has now given its time to UPLOAD.”

Earlier on 4 July, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Aatmanirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge to help the start-up and tech community achieve the Atmanbir India Mission.

He had said, “Today, when the whole country is working towards creating a self-reliant India, it is a good opportunity to give direction to their efforts, speed their hard work and develop their talent, which is their Can satisfy the market as well as compete with the world. ”

Here is the category wise breakup of the apps presented:

Social networking: 1155
Business: 1142
E-learning: 1062
Health and welfare: 901
Office and work from home: 662
Sport: 326
Entertainment: 320

– Other: 1135

This challenge will run in two tracks: Promotion of existing apps and development of new apps.

The government will provide mentoring, hand-holding and support for the promotion of existing apps and platforms in the categories of e-learning, work-from-home, gaming, business, entertainment, office utilities and social networking. Track-01 will operate in mission mode to identify good quality apps for the leader-board and will be completed in about a month.

The track-02 initiative, to incubate new apps and platforms, will help create new champions in India, providing access to the market as well as speed, incubation, prototyping and roll out.
