The government has announced a number of exemptions under lockdown 2.0 across the country. Here’s what it means for you as a motorcar!
The ongoing Kovid-19 lockdown in the country has been extended till May 3, 2020. The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced some revised guidelines during the lockdown after April 20. According to this, only private vehicles for emergency services that include medical and veterinary care will be allowed along with those used to purchase essential items. In addition, the government has allowed a maximum of two people for a private four wheeler. In that case, two people are not allowed to sit together in front. Instead, one other than the driver has to sit in the back.
On the other hand, in the case of a two-wheeler, only the rider is allowed, that too in the case of the purchase of an essential item. Said that no puppy is allowed in case of bike, scooter or moped. The Ministry of Home Affairs also announced that all taxi services including auto rickshaws, cycle rickshaws and taxis will be restricted till 3 May. The government has also allowed movement of cutting and sowing related machines. In addition, mechanics are allowed to work after April 20, meaning that if your vehicle breaks down in the middle, you don’t have to worry about finding a mechanic.
However, vehicle dealerships across the country will also be closed till 3 May. Earlier, the Supreme Court allowed the sale of BS4 vehicles (only 10 percent) for only 10 days after lockdown lifting. That said, dealers are currently concerned about unsold inventory. With this in mind, manufacturers such as Hero MotoCorp and Honda had announced that they would buy back unsold BS4 inventory from dealers to relieve them.
