PM Garib Kalyan Yojana: Free Ration, Food Grains Given to 5.29 Crore Beneficiaries Under Garib Kalyan Yojana: Finance Ministry

New Delhi: As the Center has extended the nationwide lockout till May 3, the Union Finance Ministry said on Tuesday that more than 5.29 crore beneficiaries have been given free ration of food grains under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana scheme. Addressing a press conference in the Finance Ministry, Rajesh Malhotra said that 3,985 MT of pulses have been sent to different states / union territories for distribution.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana N scheme, more than 5.29 crore beneficiaries have been given free ration of food grains. Malhotra said that 3,985 MT of pulses have been sent to different states / union territories for distribution.

He also said that more than 32 crore poor have been provided financial assistance of Rs 29,352 crore on 13 April, adding that the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Poor Welfare Package is being monitored at the highest level.

“Swift implementation of the Prime Minister’s Poor Welfare Package is being monitored at the highest level. Till yesterday, more than 32 crore poor have been given direct cash support of Rs 29,352 crore under the package.

Addressing the press conference, the Ministry of Health stated that 1,06,719 isolation beds and 12,024 ICU beds have been installed in 602 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals to fight coronovirus in the country.

The ministry also updated that there were 1,211 coronavirus cases and 31 deaths in the country in the last 24 hours.

“So far 1,036 people have been cured. Love Aggarwal, joint secretary in the Union health ministry, said that 179 people were diagnosed and cured yesterday. He also said that if no COVID-19 case is reported from a specific area for 28 days, then we can say that we are capable of breaking the chain of transmission.
