Sensex jumps 700 points in opening session, Nifty at 8,952.70

The stock traded green in the opening session on Thursday as the market benchmark Sensex jumped 700 points to 30,619.77 points amid strong investment. During this period, the Nifty rose from 200 points to 8,952.70.

Sensex constituents like HDFC, ICICI Bank, ONGC, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank and Hero Motorcorp were trading on a positive note. All NSE constituents were trading in green, with Nifty Pharma and Financial Services being the biggest gainers.

The Sensex closed at 173.25 points or 0.58%, 29,893.96 and the Nifty fell 43.45 points or 0.49% to 8,748.75 in the previous session.

According to reports, market volatility remains amidst the flow of funds from investors.

According to traders, domestic equities drive the key foreign exchange inflows of elevated inflation beyond the release of wholesale inflation data.

Globally, concern over increasing cases of coronovirus patients keeps investors on edge, however, as equities in other Asian markets are rising in anticipation of government stimulus as the COVID-19 epidemic in these regions reaches its peak. Conditions in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Tokyo were trading on a positive note.

Stock exchanges on Wall Street closed Wednesday with losses.
