Class 10, 12 exams get govt nod, with conditions

The Ministry of Home Affairs gave permission to conduct board exams for classes 10 and 12 on Wednesday. This decision was taken after several states and central boards like CBSE. Petitioned the government.

In a letter sent to the states, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said, “Keeping in mind the interest of large number of students, it was decided to exempt from lockdown measures for conducting board examinations for class 10th and 12th. is.”

Home Minister Amit Shah also announced this in a tweet, granting this permission “with certain conditions like social disturbances, face masks etc. for their protection”.

Since the opening of schools was prohibited under the guidelines on lockdown measures, the annual board examinations being conducted by the State Board of Education / CBSE / ICSE etc. for classes 10 and 12 were suspended.

The MHA’s clarification came a day after the High Court of Goa sought an immediate reply on whether the government’s order on lockdown extension prohibited the conduct of board examination.

The clarification comes as a bullet in the arm for state governments, whose decision to conduct the remainder of the board examinations was met with resistance.

Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Rajasthan, Goa are among the states where board examinations had to be dropped midway due to nationwide lockout in the last week of March. Of these, Goa will be the first state to take the 10th grade examination. The Bombay High Court in Goa allowed the state government to proceed to the SSC exam from Thursday after the MHA’s clarification.

Spelling out the terms to allow the conduct of examinations, the letter stated that it should ensure that there are no examination centers in the inclusion areas, there are provisions for thermal screening and sanitizer at the centers, and social at all examination centers There is a mess.
