Mahindra Group launches university for interdisciplinary learning

Mumbai: The Mahindra Group today announced the launch of Mahindra University (MU) for interdisciplinary learning to integrate the study of science and technology with humanities, ethics, philosophy and design, along with the group’s executive chairman Anand Mahindra.

As part of the immediate road map, the university will launch School of Management (2021-22), School of Law (2021-22), Indira Mahindra School of Education (2021-22), School of Media and Liberal Arts (2022) . -23) and School of Design (2023–24). MU consists of Ecole Centrale School of Engineering which was established in 2014.

“The epidemic has led to more speculation about education in the New World. Along with advancing online education, content changes are needed. After the launch, Mahindra said that in the post-Covid world, more people understanding of humanity will be needed while implementing technology to solve those problems.

The 130-acre, multi-disciplinary campus in Hyderabad will offer undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses. It will operate as an autonomous university, whose contemporary curriculum will be fully curated for emerging technologies such as data science, blockchain and data analytics.

Mahindra University is part of the Mahindra Educational Institutions (MEI), which is not a profitable subsidiary of Tech Mahindra. The university is being planned as a platform to balance education with real-world experience through entrepreneurial projects to solve the complex challenges facing society. Mahindra said that in addition to universities based in the US and Europe, they are actively partnering with Japanese universities to leverage their expertise in technology and design. In the next five years, an estimated 4,000 students and more than 300 faculty members will be in various schools of Mahindra University.

“There is a need to change the curriculum for technical learning such as art, history, philosophy are also part of their learning. We need multi-dimensional talent in industries and we will ensure to provide such education, ”said Vineet Nayyar, President, MEI.

Yajulu Meduri, Director, Mahindra Ecole Centrale, said that the Minerva Fund- Mahindra University Scholarship Program is available to ensure that deserving students have access to quality education. Efforts are being made to involve in providing scholarships across the board with special focus on women students, students from North-Eastern states and Jammu and Kashmir regions, and by negotiating with banks to add university education loan products For this, Mercury said.

MU will have to bring corporate and industrial ecosystems together through its centers of excellence. Students will have access to the Mahindra Group’s expertise through a Center of Excellence, visiting faculty and other strategic engagements. Managing director and CEO CP Gurnani said, “We have a track record of 100% placements (at the Ecole Centrale School of Engineering) and we provide the same level of education to people in the liberal arts to qualify for equal arts quality will do.” Tech Mahindra.
