The six Gurugram police stations will start operations from the newly constructed buildings from January next year.
New stations will come up in Sushant Lok 1, Sector 53, DLF Phase 3, Kherki Daula, Sector 65 and Pataudi to ensure better policing. These police stations will be operational in January next year. Police said that construction of Badshahpur and Rajendra Park Police Station which is planned in the next phase will begin soon.
Police Commissioner Muhammad Akil said the modernization of the force under the new stations is part of the plan. “These police stations needed a modern facility and proper structure for police personnel. He was working from a very old structure and was in a dilapidated condition. The premises will be adequately closed and electrified to ensure smooth operation of the police station.
Police infrastructure is being built by Haryana Police Housing Corporation at a cost of ₹ 114.34 crore in various locations and police lines across the state. The project involves construction of 300 apartments for police personnel at Bhondsi, Police Lines Manesar and Gurugram.
Akil said that upgrading of police infrastructure will help in ensuring safety and security with the active support of the general public.
The city areas are rapidly urbanizing with thousands of residents every year. Akil said that the population of the area is expected to increase in the near future as the majority of residential projects in the area have been completed, so we need to expand the police station area and facilities for residents.
The project includes a double-story building and a 50-space parking lot, approximately 12,000-square-foot size for each police station.
Police said construction work was stopped last month and restarted last month, with the building likely to be ready before January 2021.
Last year, the state government announced the construction of police stations in the city. At present, there are around 6,000 police personnel in 41 police stations apart from special branches.
The construction of a new and improved police station will feature an exercise room, crèche and a recreational activity room, police said.
The new police station will have about 50 personnel, including officers working with various crime units.
Since last year, the city police has been opening more police stations in new areas of Gurugram due to mass expansion and urbanization.
