Vizag Gas Leak today: Two dead, four fall sick after gas leak at pharma plant in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Two workers died and four others were hospitalized Benzimidazole Gas Leakage From there Signer Life Sciences Pharma Company Tuesday morning at Paravada in Visakhapatnam, at Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City (JNPC). The incident occurred when more than 30 people were working in the pharma company. A total of six workers collapsed due to the gas.

The deceased were identified as Narendra and Gauri Shankar. The condition of one person is said to be critical in four people hospitalized. Although the exact cause of the gas leak has not yet been ascertained, officials suspect that there may be some technical reasons.

District Collector V Vinay Chand, Commissioner of Police RK Meena and some others have visited the pharma company to find out the causes of the gas leak.

The accident occurred on the heels of a styrene vapor leak incident from the LG polymer plant in the RR Venkatapuram area of ​​the city in the month of May. In this incident 12 people lost their lives and more than 500 people of the area were hospitalized.

The incident has caused panic among activists in JNPC. However, officials said that benzimidazole gas was no more dangerous than styrene. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has inquired about the incident. District Collector of Visakhapatnam V. Vinay Chand told the Chief Minister that the incident was confined to a part of the pharma company and there were reports of gas leakage from a reactor. There is no need to panic, however, as a precaution the unit has been shut down. The district administration has constituted a four-member committee to investigate the gas incident.
