Police found the note with a message scattered on the wall, saying, “We three are dying.”
Police said an elderly man, his wife and his disabled son were found dead in their house in Thakurpukur area of the city on Tuesday. In a note recovered by the police, the 80-year-old Gobindo worker said that the three decided to kill themselves because they were not keeping well.
He wrote that his wife Ranu Karmakar (70) and son Debashish (50) were both suffering from paralysis, and it was impossible for him to care for them. Police said Debashish was disabled at birth, and his mother was paralyzed after a recent heart attack.
According to officials, the trio tried to test for Covid-19 as Gobindo had been raising the temperature for the past few days. A police officer said investigators were awaiting a post-mortem report.
