Three Covid-19 vaccine trials for children underway, says govt | Latest News India

The National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Covid-19 and the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation have been learning and contemplating scientific proof associated to the vaccination of individuals within the 12-17 age group, the well being ministry advised Parliament on Friday.

The approvals for the Covid-19 vaccines will accordingly be given after profitable completion of the medical trials and submission of requisite knowledge as per the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, it stated.

“As of now, ZyCoV-D vaccine manufactured by Cadila Healthcare has received the approval for restricted use in emergency setting by the national regulator, Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), for the age group of 12 years and above based on the interim clinical data of Phase III clinical trials conducted in the country,” the minister of state for well being Bharati Pawar stated.

Pawar added Bharat Biotech is conducting Phase II/III of the medical trials of Covaxin on wholesome volunteers aged two to 18. She stated the Serum Institute of India is conducting Phase II/III medical trials of Nanoparticle Vaccine (liquid), Covovax, on 920 topics. Pawar stated Biological E Ltd is conducting Phase II/III medical trials on the receptor-binding area of the SARS-CoV-2 gene on 624 topics.

Apart from these indigenous vaccine trials for children, American pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson can also be conducting world Phase II/III medical trials for the 12-17 age group. India is one in every of its medical trial websites.
