Four Indian quick films have made it to the Oscars 2021 race this year. Vidya Balan’s quick movie on rape tradition has entered the Oscars together with different Indian quick films similar to Shameless, Saving Chintu, and Tailing Pond.
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala & Vidya Balan and helmed by Shaan Vyas, Natkhat is a 33-minute quick movie that showcases a mother-son relationship and how it’s nurtured in a patriarchal residence. The makers took to Twitter to announce the excellent news.

The quick movie has screened at prestigious worldwide (digital) movie festivals like Tribeca’s We Are One: A Global Film Festival, Indian Film Festival Stuttgart (Where it gained the German Star of India Award), London Indian Film Festival in London and Birmingham, the South Asian Film Festival – Orlando/Florida Film Festival, and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
According to a press launch, it was on the Best of India Short Film Festival that Natkhat was introduced because the Winner and eligible for Oscar 2021 qualification.
Meanwhile Shameless, starring Sayani Gupta, Hussain Dalal and Rishabh Kapoor, is a brief movie written and directed by Keith Gomes.
It would be the official entry from India for the Academy Awards 2021. The movie will compete within the Best Live Action Short Film class on the 93rd Oscars ceremony.
