Five lifestyle changes which keep your blood pressure down

High blood pressure is one of the most common problems that occur to humans worldwide. Globally, 1.13 billion suffer from hypertension.

High blood pressure is also known as a silent killer because it does not give any symptoms and damages the body from the inside. It can aggravate heart attack, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure and many other life-threatening problems.

While a slight lifestyle change may work for you and keep blood pressure under control. Here are five things that are beneficial:

1: Physical activity

Blame it on our lifestyle, but we have become more lazy and less moving humans. For those who are not used to being physically active, start doing your favorite activity for five to 10 minutes to build an exercise habit. Slow progress and slowly exercise for at least 150 minutes of exercise a week.

2: Weight loss

Losing even 5% of your total body weight can show significant improvement. If you lose 10% of your body weight, then other health conditions like atrial fibrillation can improve.

3: Healthy diet

For high blood pressure patients, less salt is the way to go. Processed and packaged food is a big no-no, thanks to high salt and preservative content.

4. Avoid alcohol

Ideally, the best thing is to abandon it altogether or reduce its consumption only on occasions. No amount of alcohol is good for your body. It can also be a deterrent if you are trying to lose weight.

5. Quit Smoking

Smoking is dangerous for high blood pressure patients. If you have high blood pressure and you smoke, work towards quitting it as soon as possible.
