Shab-e-Qadr is celebrated on the night of Shakti and Blessing and 27th night of Ramadan. Muslims around the world pray throughout the night on the 27th night of Ramadan to celebrate the first revelation of the Holy Quran to Prophet Mohammed.
Also known as Lailat al-Qadr, this night is considered one of the holiest Islamic nights.
During the night, Muslims offer special prayers and prayers till morning.
On this day, preachers and religious scholars throw light on the teachings of Islam and various aspects of the Prophet’s life and urge Muslims to follow it.
Shab-e-Qadr 2020 date
Shab-e-Qadr is mostly celebrated on the 27th day of Ramadan. In India, Shab-e-Qadr will be celebrated on 21 May this year. Muslims in India will start the prayer on the evening of 20 May and continue it till the morning of 21 May.
Importance of Shab-e-Qadr
Lailat al-Qadr represents the night when the first verses of the Quran were told to Prophet Mohammad. Muslims believe that the blessings and mercy of God are abundant on this night. Some people recite the Quran all night to get God’s blessings and mercy.
During Shab-e-Qadra, Muslims do special duas and this is, अल्लाहAllahumma Inaka `Afuvun Tuhibul` Afwa Fufu ‘Annie’.
In India, Eid is celebrated on 24 May or 25 May (depending on the moon sighting)
