Kathmandu: The National Assembly of Nepal unanimously approved the Constitution Amendment Bill today to update the political and administrative map of the country that incorporates three Indian territories.
India called the “artificial enlargement” of Nepal’s land claims unsustainable after its lower house of parliament unanimously approved the country’s new political map on Saturday with areas that India claims belong to it.
The National Assembly, or the upper house of the Nepalese parliament, unanimously approved the bill to amend the constitution that provides for the inclusion of the country’s new political map in its national emblem.
The bill was passed with the 57 members present voting in its favor.
Nepal, on its new map, claims the Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura territories of India.
