OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8 just beat the PS4 and Xbox with this new feature

OnePlus says that the OnePlus 8 series will be available in India from May 29. The OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 became the first products in their category to officially beat both PS4 and Xbox by running Fortnite at 90fps, where gamers are still stuck with the traditional 60fps. Why do we say that the OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 are the first such products in their category, as Apple’s iPad Pro defeats all the above devices by running the popular Battle Royal game at a very smooth 120fps.

OnePlus announced on Tuesday that it has tied up with Fortnite-maker Epic Games to bring 90Hz playback on the OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8. The OnePlus 8 Pro has a 120Hz panel, so it’s not really OnePlus and Epic games. Making full use of its fast (relative to OnePlus 8) screen but at least, it is a start for smartphones. OnePlus 8 has a 90Hz panel. OnePlus said that the update to enable 90fps Fortnite playback is now running for OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8. Both phones are not officially available for purchase in India at this time, but they will be from May 29.

OnePlus said in a statement, “With the rollout currently underway, the OnePlus 8 series is now the first line of smartphones capable of running Fortnite on unrealistic engines, the fastest frame rate ever for Fortnite.” Saying that “the whole effort to bring 90FPS to the Fortnite on OnePlus 8 took months of development.”

Sadly, it seems that 90fps Fortnite playback will be limited to OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8. OnePlus has confirmed that OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro can play Fortnite at “max” of 60fps, even if they come with a 90 Hz panel.

Elsewhere, the partnership of OnePlus-Epic Games goes beyond enabling 90Hz playback on the OnePlus 8 series. OnePlus said that OnePlus users who have OnePlus 6 and newer can now download Fortnite via “One-Touch”, an easy installation of the Epic Games app through the “Game Space” app.
