Spider-Man: No Way Home Has the Potential of Fixing a Mistake from the Comics

Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home has the chance to amend one of the comic’s biggest and most fatal mistakes. Based on the well-known, but very controversial comic called One More Day, we are very curious to see whether the movie will follow the comic’s greatest mistake or if it is able to outgrow them. The trailer, in anticipation of the latest Spider-Man movie, revealed that Peter Parker will be asking for Doctor Strange’s help while he is struggling with the world knowing his identity. What goes on after that, remains unknown and yet to be discovered.

One of the most solid criticisms of One More Day is that the comic sees several key pieces being erased from Peter Parker’s history and relationships to stabilise the status quo and make the world forget his secret identity. This includes forgetting all about his love for MJ, including their happy marriage. Spider-Man: No Way Home has the ability to fix this mistake when it comes to Mary Jane Watson, played by Zendaya.

Spider-Man is one of the top Marvel superheroes, featured in a lot of industries with the first movie going back to 2002, starring Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and William Defoe. Action figures, merchandise, board games, and video games followed with its rising popularity. In fact, Insomniac games recently announced that Marvel’s Spiderman 2 will soon be coming to PS5, and anticipation for the game is massive. The slot game Spider-Man: Attack of the Green Goblin is a very popular game developed by Playtech, one of the game providers for the best online casinos in usa.

In Marvel’s One More Day comic, we see Spider-Man dealing with the devastating fact that his identity has been revealed during Civil War in support of Iron Man. This also results in Peter Parker’s Aunt May to be caught amidst the crossfire, resulting in her being fatally wounded. Peter was given a choice by Mephisto – he could reverse this action and bring back Aunt May, only at the cost of Peter and Mary Jane’s marriage. Peter felt like he had no other option but to comply and they both forgot their marriage and most of Peter’s life was erased.

As one can imagine, this was met with severe criticism from comic book fans, especially when it comes to the erasure of one of Marvel’s best love stories. While Spider-Man: No Way Home seems to be heading to a similar path to the comics, the trailer shows that there is still hope for a different outcome. Fear not – not all is lost just yet!

As happened with the comics, if Marvel/Sony takes on the decision to erase Spider-Man and MJ’s relationship, it will undoubtedly be met with criticism. This is Marvel’s chance to correct these mistakes and let Spider-Man grow and evolve as a character, giving him the chance to fight for his relationship or figure out how to undo the spell. It would be tragic to see Tom Holland, as Peter Parker, lose his girlfriend!

Thankfully, we will not have to wait for much longer as Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to release on December 17th, 2021!
