Dhakshayani joined the transgender group and underwent the surgery in Chennai in 2017. She later lived in Mumbai and Nepal, did odd jobs in temples and learnt astrology earlier than returning to Chennai in 2019. “It was during Covid-19 when a family friend got in touch and told me that my family was looking for me.”

Dhakshayani’s mom and siblings accepted her. She stated she labored in a personal agency in Chennai for six months however confronted discrimination as a result of her id. “So, I decided to approach the government to get my old job back.”

In 2021, she petitioned the federal government and bought reinstated a year later. “This is a job I am experienced in and I am good at. And so far, the team seems affectionate, supportive, and aware,” Dakshayani stated.

Dakshayani’s job includes liaising with the federal government and civil society concerning the authorities’s schemes. The government should offer more opportunities for transgender people so that our community can live with dignity.”
