Twitter Hacked In Massive Bitcoin Scam: Joe Biden, Elon Musk Accounts Among Dozens Breached

In an unprecedented cyberattack, the Twitter accounts of Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Kanye West, Elon Musk were hacked into promoting a bitcoin scam in which all accounts posted the following tweet: “Feeling grateful duplicating all payments sent to my BTC talk to! They send $ 1,000, I send $ 2,000! Just doing this for the next 30 minutes.”

Noting the scam, Twitter stopped some accounts’ ability to send new tweets after a massive hacker attack on the social media website.

“You may not be able to tweet or reset your password as we review and address the incident,” Twitter support tweeted.

“We’re continuing to limit the ability to Tweet, reset your password, and some other account functionalities while we look into this. Thanks for your patience.” it added.

In a first response after the incident, Twitter Support tweeted: “We are aware of a security incident affecting Twitter accounts. We are investigating and taking steps to fix it. We will update everyone shortly.”

The ruse included fake tweets from former President Barack Obama, Democratic presidential leader Joe Biden, Mike Bloomberg, and several tech billionaires, including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Celebrities Kanye West and his wife, Kim Kardashian West, were also hacked. The fake tweets offered to send $ 2,000 (€ 1,750) for every $ 1,000 (€ 875) sent to an anonymous Bitcoin address.
