UPSC Allows Civil Services Aspirant To Change Prelim Exam Centre

Applicants to the UPSC Civil Service will be able to change their examination center for the preliminary examination that is scheduled for October 4.

Applicants to the UPSC Civil Service will be able to change their examination center for the preliminary examination that is scheduled for October 4. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) issued a notice about it and said applicants for the 2020 Civil Services exam, including the Indian Forest Service 2020 Preliminary Exam, may submit their revised choice of center.

Taking into account the large number of candidates for the (preliminary) examination of the Civil Services, 2020 (including the (preliminary) examination of the Indian Forest Service, 2020) and the requests received from the candidates to change their centers, the Commission has decided to give an opportunity for them to present their revised choice of center, “UPSC said in a statement Wednesday.

The Commission also offers the option of switching centers for the 2020 Civil Service exam (main) and the 2020 Indian Forest Service exam (main). The option to change the exam center will be available in two phases: from July 7 to 13 and from July 20 to 24 on the commission’s official website, ‘upsconline.nic.in’.

“Candidates are encouraged to visit the website and submit their pre-test facility options, if necessary,” the statement said.

UPSC will consider the change request at the test center against the enhanced capacity as suggested by the centers to accommodate additional candidates.

“Candidates may note that their requests for change at centers will be considered based on the ‘first-apply-first-assign’ principle (which is followed in all Commission exams and was mentioned in the exam notices from the Civil Services (preliminary) review, 2020 and the Indian Forest Service review, 2020) and once the capacity of a particular center is reached, it will be frozen, “the Commission said.

Candidates who do not obtain a center of their choice because the capacity has ended will have to choose from the available examination centers.

This year, Civil Services reviews have been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The preliminary review of Civil Services that was originally scheduled for May 31 had to be postponed and will not take place in October.

Candidates applying for the UPSC Civil Services Exam may withdraw their application from August 1 to 8.
