WhatsApp, one of India’s most widely used messaging apps, continues to thrive due to its regular updates and advanced features. Among the notable updates from last year were enhancements such as multi-account support, multi-device compatibility, pinned messages, lock screen replies, polls and quizzes, screen sharing, and more. This article will delve into the functionality of WhatsApp’s multi-account support feature.

Previously, WhatsApp users were restricted to using only one account per device, even on devices that supported dual SIM functionality. However, with recent updates, users can now conveniently manage two WhatsApp accounts on a single device.

What is the Multiple Account Support Feature?

WhatsApp’s multiple account support feature enables users to seamlessly switch between different accounts on the same device. This functionality proves invaluable, eliminating the need to carry multiple phones or frequently log in and out to access personal and work-related chats.

However, it’s important to note that setting up a second account still requires a separate phone number.

How to Set Up Multiple Account Support?

To set up a second account, you’ll need either a second phone number and SIM card or a device that supports multi-SIM or eSIM functionality. Begin by accessing your WhatsApp settings, then navigate to your profile settings by clicking the arrow next to your name. From there, select “Add account” to initiate the setup process. You’ll have the option to customize privacy and notification settings for each account.

Ensure that your WhatsApp application is up to date, then access the settings page by tapping the three dots menu icon in the upper-right corner. Next, select the drop-down option next to your profile tab to reveal the option to add an account.

Adding a new account involves entering another contact number and verifying it with a six-digit verification code. Once verified, complete your profile details by selecting a profile picture and entering the desired profile name. Your second account will then be successfully added to the app, allowing you to switch between accounts using the “Switch Accounts” option in the three-dot menu or the drop-down option next to your profile tab.
