Just weeks after unveiling its thinnest product yet, the iPad Pro 2024, Apple is reportedly working on an even slimmer iPhone. According to The Information, Apple is developing a thin version of its flagship iPhone, expected to debut in 2025.
The upcoming iPhone, code-named D23, is anticipated to be powered by Apple’s next-generation A19 mobile processor.
This slim iPhone is rumored to feature a 6.6-inch screen, an aluminum frame, and a modern punch-hole cutout, similar to Android smartphones, replacing the large dynamic island seen on the iPhone 15 series.
Expected to launch alongside the iPhone 17 series in September 2025, this new model could become Apple’s most expensive iPhone yet, potentially surpassing the iPhone 17 Pro Max in price.
Apple is also reportedly developing a new battery technology with a higher energy density, enabling a smaller battery to provide more power, further reducing the device’s size.
Additionally, Apple is rumored to be phasing out the iPhone Plus model in favor of a smaller, more affordable option. This suggests that the iPhone 16 Plus, expected to launch in September, might be the last large non-Pro iPhone.
According to a report from the International Data Corporation (IDC), Samsung led the smartphone market in the first quarter of 2024 with a 20.8% market share, while Apple held the second position with a 17.3% share, experiencing a 9.6% decline in shipments. Experts attribute Samsung’s market gain to the success of its AI-infused Galaxy S24 series.
In 2025, Apple is reportedly planning to release two new iPhones: an affordable next-generation iPhone SE and the slim iPhone, inspired by the latest iPad Pro with an M4 chip. These releases aim to boost sales and provide users with more choices.
